Moving Iron Branch, also known as "Porting Iron Branch" and "Taige", originated from the Qing Dynasty and is popular in Fuding, Fu'an, Xiapu, Jiaocheng and Zhouning in eastern Fujian. The traditional Moving Iron Branch is a kind of folk performance art during festivals, with steel tube or bar iron welded into branch shape and fixed on the thill for moving. Dominated by mobile performance and limited by the bearing capacity of the support, all actors are children. Each Moving Iron Branch is 2-3m high and can accommodate 5-7 actors. By absorbing the essence of folk literature and art, traditional drama, dance and acrobatics and other art performance, "Moving Iron Branch" has developed its own distinctive performance characteristics.
Moving Iron Branch in Shuangxi, Pingnan has been incorporated in the List of National Nonmaterial Cultural Heritage.
