Taimushan is situated in the northeast section of the Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark, commanding a majestic presence on the coast of the East China Sea, 30 kilometers from downtown Fuding. It is recognized as a National Scenic Area, a National AAAAA-level Tourist Attraction, a National Geopark and National Natural Heritage. The main peak, Fuding Peak, rises 917.3 meters above sea level and encompasses 54 peaks, 108 caves, and 360 pictographic rock landscapes. Renowned for its four distinctive features - precipitous peaks, peculiar rocks, secluded caves, and ethereal mists. It is celebrated as the “Fairyland on the Sea” and the “Grand Vista of Mountain and Sea”.

Taimushan’s miarolite landforms constitute the best-developed granite peak cluster and stone egg landforms along China’s southeastern coast, serving as a model of this geomorphic type. This area is the cradle of Minyue culture. Historically, it was counted among the three major mountains of the Minyue region along with Wuyi Mountain and Yandang Mountain, and is the site for worship of Goddess Taimu, the ancestral mother of the people of Fujian. The area is rich in heritage, encompassing the Malanshan Neolithic site, sacred landmarks of Taoism, Buddhism, and Manichaeism, the stone pillar forest of the Tang Dynasty, and cliff inscriptions from successive dynasties. It is also the eastern settlement of the She ethnic group and the core birthplace of Fuding white tea. Taimushan seamlessly blends natural beauty and cultural heritage, offering both geological research opportunities and cultural tourism value.

At the same time,  one of the top ten most beautiful islands in China and also the biggest island in northeast of Fujian Province - The Dayushan Island also located in Taimushan. The island covers an area of 21.5 square kilometers. The summit of the island is 541.4 meters above sea level. Therefore, it is the highest island in Fujian. Lakes and a vast pasture lie in the centre of the island. These make the island a peculiar landscape in southern China.
