Baishuiyang is located in the northwest part of Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark, 23 kilometers from Pingnan County. It is a National Scenic Area, a National AAAAA-level Tourist Attraction and a National Geopark. Its defining feature is the globally unique “Shallow Water Square”—the Flat Bedrock Riverbed of Baishuiyang—which has earned it the reputation of “extraordinary scenery under heaven, a mystery of the universe” and “a natural water paradise”.

The central highlight is the Flat Bedrock Riverbed covering approximately 80,000 square meters, formed by millions of years of intermittent crustal uplift and persistent water erosion. It stands as a rare shallow water marvel worldwide. Volcanic rock landforms such as “Gauze-hat-like Rock” and “Birds’ Nest Rock” are distributed around the riverbed. The practice of building Shuanglong Bridge, a wooden arch lounge bridge, is uniquely distinctive and exceptionally rare in China.

In midsummer, visitors can experience the “natural surfing slide”, marvel at the magical interplay of light and shadow refracted from the “Wucaiyang”, explore Yanhou Village’s revolutionary heritage, and immerse themselves in local folk traditions such as music and dance performances. Baishuiyang is an excellent destination for water recreation and geological science popularization.
