Liyuxi is located in the western part of the Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark, 5 kilometers from Zhouning County. It is a National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction, internationally renowned for its distinctive tradition of “harmony between humans and carp; no catching, no eating”. Liyuxi is celebrated as a “Wonder of China” and known as “the premier village where humans live in peace with carp”.

A clear stream winds its way through the village, where thousands of vibrant carp glide leisurely in the water. Drawn by sounds and approaching footsteps, the carp gather amicably near people, creating a joyful scene of harmonious coexistence between villagers and carp - a vivid tableau of nature’s balance. The Zheng family has flourished here for over 800 years, steadfastly upholding traditions of cherishing, protecting and revering carp across generations, thus cultivating a distinctive culture centered around the carp. Within the village, numerous cultural relics are preserved, such as the Carp Tomb, Zheng Ancestral Hall, Seven-Star Well, and Bagua-style Residences. Precious folk customs—including carp sacrifice rituals, carp burial ceremonies, and martial arts techniques for carp protection—are inherited, embodying a rich historical legacy and profound cultural sentiment.

Liyuxi is a great destination for ecological sightseeing and watching carp playing in the water. It is also the ideal place to experience the traditional Chinese human-carp culture and engage in cultural studies, integrating both ecological value and cultural significance.
