From January 12 to 16, 2024, the Danxiashan Management Committee hosted the 2024 Danxiashan UGGp Science Popularization Volunteer Training Camp. To promote friendly exchanges between global geoparks and further advance the science popularization and education work in natural protected areas, the Danxiashan Management Committee specially invited Ningde UGGp to participate in this event, engage in the full-time practical training, and share the achievements of science popularization work.

This science popularization volunteer training camp is distinctive. The week-long training course covers the basics of geology, the geological features of Danxiashan, skills of popular science lectures, and more. The participants in this camp have diverse backgrounds and representative majors, enabling them to exchange ideas from multiple perspectives and levels during the event. Taking nature as the classroom, it integrates theory with practice, participation with interaction. Through field trips, volunteers can gain in-depth understanding of the geological landscapes and ecological environment of Danxiashan. Combined with the ecological diversity and cultural resources of Danxiashan UGGp, the camp designs multi-disciplinary content and activities, achieving the goal of "learning through practice and reflecting during learning." In addition, geological experts are invited to share their knowledge and experiences.

Science popularization volunteers are volunteers who provide services to promote human development, social progress, and social welfare, protect the Earth, promote geological conservation, popularize geological knowledge, inherit geological culture, disseminate the concept of ecological civilization, and contribute to building a beautiful China. Through this training camp, the professional qualities of the volunteers have been enhanced, injecting new vitality into the science popularization work of the geopark. The innovative methods and rich content of Danxiashan UGGp in science popularization activities have inspired Ningde UGGp. Ningde UGGp will make more attempts and innovations in the planning of science popularization activities to make them more interesting and interactive. This event has also promoted exchanges and cooperation between parks, enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between them.
