The opening ceremony of The 7^th Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark Culture & Tourism Festival & The 10^th Taimushan Culture & Tourism Festival will kick off on September 29, 2017 along Tongshan Brook, Fuding. From 29-30, a large-scale culture and tourism feast will be held in our city to warmly receive all tourists from all corners of the globe.

This session marks the 6^th Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark Culture & Tourism Festival since 2011. Let's review excellent moments of each session.

The 1^st Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark Culture & Tourism Festival & The 8^th Taimushan Culture & Tourism Festival

Opening time: October 27, 2011

Highlights of this session:

Encircled by green hills and blue sea, the unique She songs and dances, creeping dragon lanterns, Qianqi barn lanterns and other excellent folklore artistic performances pushed to a jubilant scene. Themed at "Great Mountain and River Landscapes, Gological Gallery", this session fell into exhibition, forum, activity and experience modules. The "100-agency, 1,000-Group and 10,000-people Tour", tourism promotion meeting, "Celestial City in the Sea - Magical Taimushan" National Photography Exhibition, "Taimushan Cup" Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark Bicycle Climbing Race, Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark Construction and Management Seminar and other activities held fully demonstrated the unique charm of picturesque mountains and rivers, geological wonders and local customs and showed the tourisms-driven development vitality of Ningde.

What is noticeable is that Blessing Gathering in the Celestial City artistic performance was held at Fuqifeng Square in Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark Taimushan Park and nearly 2,000 foreign and domestic guests attendede the activities. The natural landscapes and exquisite dances presented by Ningde She Nationality Dance Troupe reflected the great diversity of tourism resources in Ningde. On the occasion, well-known hosts Yang Lan, Wu Dawei, popular artists Sun Nan, Chang Sisi and Zhang Yao were invited for excellent performance. 

The 2^nd Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark (Pingnan) Culture & Tourism Festival

Highlights of this session:

The festival kicked off at the magnificent and glittering Baishuiyang Qianshui Square. This session fell into exhibition, activity, competition, experience, agreement conclusion and forum modules. The Song of Mountain and Sea evening party, opening ceremony, on-water artistic performance, on-water sports meeting, tourism and industrial park promotion meeting, project signing ceremony, "Baishuiyang Star" Tour Guide Contest, Global Geopark Seminar and other activities fully demonstrated beautiful natural landscapes, mysterious geological wonders, and unique historical and cultural landscapes in Ningde. Held in Western Taiwan Strait, this session would further enrich and improve the "Water-loving Tourism" series brand. In addition, the awarding ceremony of national 5A scenic area for Baishuiyang - Yuanyang Stream was also held. 

The 3^rd Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark (Fu'an) Culture & Tourism Festival

The 4^th Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark Culture & Tourism Festival & The 9^th Taimushan Culture & Tourism Festival

Highlights of this session:

This session fully integrated and demonstrated folk cultural characteristics of Fuding. Themed at "Great Mountain and River Landscapes, Gological Gallery", it included exhibition, forum, activity and experience modules. The Opening Ceremony, Bicycle Climbing Race, folklore artistic performances, exhibition and promotion of distinctive tourist products and snacks and gourmet, Fuding white tea contrast competition and tourism forum summit, totaling over 10 activities, demonstrated geological wonders in Ningde and Fuding and also the unique charm of folk customs. During the session, over 40 customs activities were held and over 100 kinds of special delicious food offered for tourists, a true feast to both eyes and mouths.

 The 5^th Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark Tourism & Culture Festival

Highlights of this session:

At the opening ceremony, tourists were given the access to the scene to witness the announcement of the selection results of "Top 10 Tourism Brands" in Ningde, the awarding ceremony of Canoe and Kayak Competition in Yuanyang Stream Waterfall, the unveiling of the commemorative envelope and maximum card of The 5^th Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark Culture & Tourism Festival and takeover of the flag of "Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark Culture & Tourism Festival". Further, tourists also appreciated such excellent on-water activities as drag dance accompanied by drum performance, red memory, grand martial art performance, charming arch bridge and warm Pingnan, etc. and in the end witnessed the romatic on-water group wedding of 20 couples from different provinces and cities. 

Besides, during the festival, tourism promotion meeting, investment promotion activities, gourmet tasting, canoe and kayak competition and other brilliant activities were also held. Tourists could also experience the thick art atmosphere on the scene of the works exhibition of craftworks creative design competition, fine arts and calligraphy work exhibition and cross-strait photographic works exhibition. In addition, the Organizing Committee also engineered special tourism performances in Pingnan, Fuding and Fu'an.

The 6^th Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark Tourism & Culture Festival

Highlights of this session:

Gathering folk customs, intangible cultural heritage, specialty foods and cultural products from all areas of Ningde, this festival attracted thousands of foreign and domestic persons and tourists to gather in Fu'an.

This Tourism & Culture Festival was themed at "Refreshing Fujian, Green Ningde and Picturesque Fu'an". During the activity, folk culture display and performance, gourmet and snack display and tasting, tourism promotion and investment attraction for Ningde, field investigation under the "guidance with the Mayor", photographic exhibition of landscapes in eastern Fujian held in the city, photographic exhibition of landscapes of scenic areas and other activities were held. All these activities fully integrated and demonstrated the natural landscapes, historical and cultural elements, folk customs, local products and tourist gourmet of each county (city and district) of Ningde. Highlighting local characteristics and enhancing activity openness and tourists and citizens' participation, this festival developed a happy atmosphere with involvement by all people and thus was proven to be a real city-wide sharing festival.

On October 3, 2010, at the UNESCO Global Geopark Appraisal Conference held in Lesvos, Greece, Ningde UNESCO Geopark was appraised as a Global Geopark. Located in Ningde in northeast Fujian Province, Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark mainly includes Taimushan, Baishuiyang and Baiyunshan Parks, covering a total area of 2639.443km². Taimushan Park, in particular, is reputed as "celestial city in the sea" owing to its such natural wonders as mountains, sea, rivers and islands and matching cultural landscapes and has also risen to be a high-end tourism brand in Western Taiwan Strait.
