Zhouning is known as the home town of carp culture. In Puyuan Village, less than 5km distance away from the west of the county area, lies the well-known Carp Brook. Over the past 800 years, tens of thousands of colorful and sensible "divine carps" live and breed in the Brook. The "harmonious coexistence of man and carp" scene and the globally unique carp burial, carp funeral oration and carp funeral in Carp Brook has been an example of harmony between man and nature, making a "wonder" in China. The humanity of Carp Brook and the cultural connotation of Fancy Carp Special Stamp share some same elements. On June 25, the first issue of Fancy Carp Special Stamp will be unveiled in Carp Brook. By then, Carp Brook Tourism & Culture Festival will also be held to carry forward and promote the carp loving and protection culture of people in Carp Brook. Each excellent activity will be worthy of your expectations. 

During the last years of the Southern Song Dynasty, the ancestors of the Zheng family settled there. In order to protect carps in the Brook, they concluded village regulation and non-governmental agreement that "man and carp will co-exist and all will protect carps to the death, neither fish nor eat them. This regulation will pass on from generation to generation." As time goes by, an atmosphere of man-carp coexistence and carp loving and protection has become a common practice, contributing to this unique and wonderful Carp Brook natural reserve. 

This less than 500m-wide and several meter-wide Carp Brook raise newly 10,000 colorful carps. Sometimes, they may be gentle and tame, rest silently, or at times, compete for food and dance vigorously. . . . . . They will appear upon hearing sound of man and gather together after seeing man, like a "divine fish". For its uniqueness in carp burial, carp funeral oration and carp funeral, Carp Brook was given the Guinness World Records -- The Most Ancient Carp Brook in 2008. 

Here, over the past 800-odd years, harmonious coexistence of man and carp and carp loving and protection has become a common practice, leading to the unique "carp culture" in Zhouning. Now, the carp in Carp Brook, Zhouning is displayed on China's stamp, representing a symbol of China.

One set of Fancy Carp Special Stamp contains 8 stamps. 8 champion carps at the International Fancy Carp Competition were drawn by meticulous and realistic style, including kohaku, Taisho Sanshoku, Taisho sanke, Qiucui fancy carp, yamabaki ogon, Shiro-Bekko, Hi-Utsuri, and red and kohaku Tancho." 

 Kohaku: strong red and white contrast, presenting bright and beautiful colors. This type has snow-white skin, even and thick bright red scales, and clear trimming without no dim position. Showing a sense of silk, its excellent snow-white skin is free from yellowing. Those with ceramic whiteware-like appearance fall into the range of top grade. 

Taisho Sanshoku: the red and white body texture is embellished with a small amount of top-grade ink specks. This type should have regular "trimming". Superior ones have only large ink specks or only have small ink specks, and also have beautiful and appealing red texture, elegant temperament as well as even color and good luster.

Kohaku: strong red and white contrast, presenting bright and beautiful colors. This type has snow-white skin, even and thick bright red scales, and clear trimming without no dim position. Showing a sense of silk, its excellent snow-white skin is free from yellowing. Those with ceramic whiteware-like appearance fall into the range of top grade.

Qiucui: the color on the smooth back is like the blue sky in the serene autumn. the blue-black large scales on back are well-arranged; the light blue head is bald, bright and free from such mottles as spots and blackspot. Those with dazzling brilliance over orange red cheeks are of greater appreciation value. 

 Yamabaki ogon: the whole body has shiny metal luster. The whole body is embellished with golden powder, making it bright and shiny in water. It deserves the reputation of "living treasure". The smooth shape makes it easy to swim in water vigorously, actively and lively.
