September 11, 2016 Fujian Baiyunshan Scenic Area

It comes again the occasion of fragrant and big fruits to celebrate the abundant year at the foot of Baiyunshan. On September 10, the 3^rd Fu'an Baiyunshan - Xiaoyang Alpine Grape Picking Festival was launched grandly in the Nanxi service area of Baiyunshan UNESCO Global Geopark as one of the series activities for the 6^th Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark Culture & Tourism Festival to come.

Xiaoyang Town, sited at the foot of Baiyunshan, with an average altitude of above 800m, is a quiet and beautiful place. It abounds in alpine later-maturing Kyoho grapes. Since this kind of grape matures in late summer and early autumn, it can concentrate the essence from the sunshine, rain and dew across the whole summer; thus, produces full, sweet, juicy, fresh, tasty fruits of thick fragrance. 

Relying on unique geological environment, rich light condition and selenium-rich and zinc-rich soil, Xiaoyang Town has managed to further improve the quality and output of grapes and create the alpine grape industry become one of the leading industries in Xiaoyang by adopting high-tech planting technologies (such as standard H-form cultivation and steel structure rain-shelter drip irrigation) and scientific and effective management. 

In September, early autumn, the alpine late-maturing grape spreading across over 6,000mu land in Xiaoyang matures into the picking period. Countless rich grapes bursting with fragrance scatter in the mist-shrouded mountains and along the murmuring streams.

On the day of the picking festival, various master-hands from Xiaoyang Town presented their quality fruits to compete in appearance, taste and contend for the title of "Grape King".

Moreover, the artistic performances one by one ignited the whole crowd presented at the picking festival.

After your eyes get feasted, let's turn to the appetite. The activity of "Town Major Takes You to Pick Grapes" brought an overall boiling of the vineyard. Picking, tasting, photographing, or enjoying, these people filled the vineyard with happy laughter and cheerful voices.

In the daytime, the tourists toured Baiyunshan, and tasted alpine grapes and special snacks of Xiaoyang; in the evening, there was also a music party; all tourists attracted here by its reputation exclaimed that they really enjoyed their staying here.
