On April 22, Prof. Nicholas Zouros, chairman of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network and director of the Lesbos Natural History Museum in Greece, Prof. Zhang Jianping of China University of Geosciences and Prof. Qiu Xiaoping, excutive scientist of the Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark inestigated the Baiyunshan Park of Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark, the museum and the surrounding villages of Liancun, Xita, Hutou and so on, accompanied by Zhong Minglong and Chen Caiming, Ningde tourism department leaders, and Chen Changdong, Zhong Lingling, Fanqi and Yangdaohui, city leaders. 

During the inspection, Prof. Nicholas Zouros and his party made valuable suggestions on how to realize a better protection, construction, development and utilization of geological resources. It was coincidently the day of the 48^th World Earth Day, therefore, Prof. Nicholas Zouros had a cordial and interactive exchange with the students of Fu'an No. 3 Middle School participating in the earth protection activities in Baiyunshan. 

The Lesbos of Greece has a close relationship with Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark and the Baiyunshan Scenic Area. On October 3, 2010, at the UNESCO Global Geopark Review Conference held in Lesbos, Greece, the Ningde Global Geopark, consisting of Fu'an Baiyunshan, Pingnan Baishuiyang and Fuding Taimushan, was formally included in the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network Directory and won the title of " Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark". 

On April 23, the Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark signed a sister park agreement with the Lesbos UNESCO Global Geopark in Greece. In the future, the two sides will realize in-depth cooperation in scientific research, science popularization, and talent exchange.
