On the Morning of June 13, Social Science Forum at Grass Roots & "Happy Fuding" Forum Episode 23 kicked off at the labor practice base of Fuding Middle School. Bai Rongmin, deputy director of Taimushan Scenic Area Management Committee and scholar of local culture of Fuding gave a special lecture themed at historic culture of Taimushan at invitation and over 200 students from Fuding Maohua Middle School listened to the lecture. This is also one of the activities held to commemorate China's first "Cultural and Natural Heritage Day". 

Residing on the border of Fujian and Zhejiang, Fuding, as a county-level city, holds forth charming landscapes and enjoys culture of mountains and sea. Five thousand years ago, the ancestors of Ming Yue clan lived on the sea and thus developed the splendid maritime civilization. Enjoying the reputation of "spectacle of mountains and sea", Taimushan, bordering the coast of the East China Sea and residing in Fuding, has splendid and beautiful landscapes and profound culture and so far has nourished Taimu culture characterized by both mountain and sea civilziations.

Taimu culture represents a distinctive local culture developed gradually centering on Taimushan and value identification of Taimu cultural heritage in the long-standing historical process of people in eastern Fujian. Bai Rongmin believed that the formation and development of Taimu culture are closely related to its geographic advantages. Surrounded by mountains and the sea, Fuding has the characteristics of both mountain and sea culture. In addition, adjacent to northeast Fujian and southwest Zhejiang, Fuding integrated the cultural contents of Fujian and Zhejiang. 

What is noticeable is that the geological position of Fuding at the significant juncture of Southeast Ethnic Corridor in history makes it a gathering place of different nationalities and lead to abundant and diversified culture. Such diversity has been deeply reflected in its main body of composition. 

In order to make the lecturing contents closer to the actual study life of senior high school students, by making use of the diversified picture information in slides and focusing on "ancestors' footprints", "identity of Taimu" and "religions in famous mountains", Bai Rongmin introduced the long-standing historic culture of Fuding and Taimushan and vividly and specifically presented the ancient and abstract historic culture of Taimu to students. As a result, the intensive information from extensive quotations and in-depth and simple lecturing style offered a rich feast of local historic culture and students on the scene gave enthusiastic applause. 

"Comparing with usual geography and history lessons at school, this lecture is closer to our daily life and more interesting. It makes me feel that history and ancient people are around us. Besides, it also makes me realize that the land where we live has a rich history. Taimushan does not only have beautiful natural landscapes but also intriguing cultural landscapes," said Zhang Shichen, a student of Grade 2 in Maohua Middle School to the reporter. 

According to information, since the opening in 2014, over 20 lectures have been given at "Happy Fuding" Forum initiated by the Propaganda Department of Fuding Committee of the Communist Party of China and Fuding Allied Social Science Association. These lectures involve history, geography, culture, mental health and other contents and are much loved by many citizens.
