The 9th UNESCO Global Geoparks International Training Course was successfully held from October 10 to 15, 2025, at the Yunyang Global Geopark in Chongqing. Organized by the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) and co-hosted by China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and Yunyang Global Geopark, the training course was attended by representatives from Ningde Global Geopark.

Themed “Management, Activities, and Network Cooperation of UNESCO Global Geoparks,” the seven-day program included indoor keynote lectures, thematic workshops, and field excursions. Expert instructors from the Global Geoparks Network, the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council, and multiple domestic global geoparks delivered sessions on strategies for geological heritage conservation and sustainable utilization, innovations in geological science education and public engagement mechanisms, and pathways for the integrated development of natural resources and cultural heritage. Representatives from Ningde Global Geopark actively participated in discussions and delivered presentations.

The 9th UNESCO Global Geoparks International Training Course introduced advanced management concepts and practical experiences to Ningde Global Geopark. Through lectures, workshops, and field visits, Ningde’s representatives systematically learned strategies for geological heritage protection, innovation in science education, and resource integration, thereby enhancing the park’s overall management capacity.
