Recently, the Qinyu Central Primary School in Fuding City launched an immersive scientific observation activity themed around exploring the geological wonders of Taimushan and seeking the Fuding salamander, bringing the classroom into Taimushan to provide students with a vivid natural science lesson.

Under the guidance of teachers, students closely observed, meticulously documented, and discussed the physical characteristics, habitat, and ecological relationships of the Fuding salamander.

The Fuding salamander belongs to the order Caudata of the class Amphibia and the family Salamandridae. It inhabits mountainous areas above 560 meters in elevation, including paddy fields, natural ponds, gentle streams, and surrounding regions. It is a unique species of the Ningde region in Fujian Province, assessed as Critically Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and is also a provincially protected wildlife species in Fujian. The species has a dorsum color of light or dark brown with inconspicuous black-brown spots, and its dorsal ridge is dark orange-red.
This activity represents an innovative attempt to extend science education from the classroom to the outdoors. It not only enriches students' extracurricular knowledge but also inspires their pride and awareness of protecting their hometown's natural and cultural heritage. It provides a vivid example for promoting the integrated development of science education and ecological conservation.
