As the 14th Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark Culture and Tourism Festival draws near, Baiyunshan has proactively upgraded its forest fire emergency response capabilities by deploying intelligent monitoring systems and enhancing firefighting equipment, building a robust safety barrier ahead of the anticipated surge in visitor numbers — ensuring the dual protection of geological wonders and visitor safety.
Leveraging its Smart Fire Prevention system, Baiyunshan has installed four high-definition intelligent cameras and four early-warning monitoring devices, achieving 24/7 dynamic coverage of 90% of the core area. A dedicated fiber-optic network has been laid to establish seamless communication between “cloud-based command” and “on-ground response,” ensuring multi-department coordinated action within five minutes of any fire incident.
In response to the geopark’s complex mountainous terrain, Baiyunshan has newly equipped one high-pressure pulse water cannon, three wind-powered fire extinguishers, and 15 sets of individual forest firefighting gear. Two integrated early-warning drones are capable of precisely delivering fire-retardant agents to inaccessible cliff faces and steep slopes. Additionally, Baiyunshan has formed the Baiyunshan Culture and Tourism Security Team in collaboration with the Baiyunshan Police Station of Fu’an City, the Western Detachment of the Fu’an Baiyun Emergency Rescue Team, and local tourism operators. Regular simulated fire drills are conducted to ensure both operational proficiency and tactical coordination.
“Visitor numbers will significantly increase during the Culture and Tourism Festival, greatly intensifying fire prevention pressure,” said a Baiyunshan official. “This upgrade not only enhances emergency response capacity but also establishes a comprehensive, integrated fire prevention system combining human, technological, and physical defenses—allowing visitors to fully enjoy the geological marvels with peace of mind.”
