On December 19, 2025, a cohort of internationally renowned composers participating in the inaugural “Ningde Composition Camp” journeyed to Taimushan — renowned as the “Fairyland of the Sea”. Among them were emerging musical talents selected globally, including China’s Chen Zian and Zheng Lanfang, and Russia’s Julia Garekht. They were accompanied by distinguished music figures: Professor Liu Yuan of the Central Conservatory of Music and Visiting Scholar at Sorbonne University, Professor Wen Deqing, a Swiss-Chinese composer and faculty member at Shanghai Conservatory of Music, renowned composer and Vice President of the Chinese Film Music Society Zhang Shaotong, and Professor Mehdi Hosseini, Artistic Director of the St. Petersburg International New Music Festival and founder of reMusik.org at the St. Petersburg Center for Contemporary Music. Together, they embarked on a sonic and inspirational journey amid Tai’mu Mountain’s extraordinary rock formations and mist-shrouded peaks.

During the field trip, Professor Liu Yuan and composer Zhang Shaotong marveled at Taimushan’s “masterpiece of nature, beautifully painted by heaven,” while Hosseini expressed deep admiration for landmarks such as the Couple Peak. At the historic site of Yipianwa, the composers savored Fuding white tea and osmanthus cake, pausing to exchange ideas across cultural boundaries. In this quiet convergence of landscapes and sound, the natural imagery of Ningde’s mountains and sea gently merged with the universal language of international music.
