On October 15, Pingnan Experimental Primary School launched a field study program at the Baishuiyang-yuanyangxi Middle and Primary School Research and Study Education Base under the theme “Patriotic Education Trip: Exploring the Mysteries of Geological Wonders.” The activity aims to ignite students’ imagination and creativity, foster teamwork, and promote all-round development in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education through hands-on learning.

During the visit to Yuanyangxi, students explored the formation of its dramatic landforms, examined how climate and topography influence plant and animal distribution, and cultivated scientific literacy and problem-solving skills by engaging directly with natural phenomena.

The Yuanyangxi incised canyon in volcanic rock, spanning 18 kilometers with a vertical drop exceeding 300 meters, is primarily controlled by NW-trending faults. Its width varies from dozens of meters to less than 2 meters, flanked by towering cliffs, suspended waterfalls, meandering streams, and deep pools—a rare composite landscape of creek, waterfall, pool, peak, rock, cave, and forest, both serene and majestic.

Students observed mandarin ducks and macaques in their natural habitat, experiencing the beauty of autumn in the wild and deepening their understanding of harmony between humanity and nature, thereby strengthening environmental stewardship and ecological responsibility.
