On April 12, CCTV News reported the rare sighting of the yellow-bellied tragopan—a critically endangered species dubbed the "bird panda"—near the cliff-top mountains of Yuanyangxi Scenic Area within Ningde UGGp.
Photographer Zheng Peiluan from the New Ningde Photography Group captured images of this endemic Chinese pheasant, notable for its vibrant throat wattle. The species typically inhabits subtropical mixed forests at elevations of 800–2,000 meters.
Zheng documented an unusually large population during his five-day observation: "I monitored over 20 individuals in the cliff-top mountains—an exceptionally rare find".
