The Taining UNESCO Global Geopark is located in the middle of Wuyi Mountain in Southeast of China, belongs to Taining County Fujian Province, at 116°54′00″E～117°18′11″E  Longitude and 26°37′26″N～27°05′35″N  Latitude, with the total area of 492.5 square kilometers. It consists of four gardens (Shiwang Garden, Golden lake Garden, Baxian Cliff Garden, Jinrao Mountain Garden) and Taining Ancient City Area, it is a comprehensive geological park, integrating with scientific research，science and education, sightseeing range, leisure, with Danxia landform as the main body, featuring both granite and volcanic rocks, tectonic geomorphic landscape, by the good ecological environment and long history culture as the connotation. It became the second batch of Global Geopark Network Member in Feb, 2005.

The Geopark is a representative area in the Mesozoic at the western Pacific continental margin active region, fully remains the geological relics of unique tectonic landform, multi-phase magma intrusion activities and rich volcanic landforms, and has four kinds of rocks. The Geopark is well-known for the youth Danxia landform which is well-developed, type completed, rich and beautiful in scenery. It known as the “Danxia Canyons Grand View Garden”, “Danxia Caves Museum” and “a place where the china Danxia story starts”, mainly features with The quite complete distinct planation surfaces, the huge gorgeous deep-cutting canyon clusters, the exceedingly well-developed Danxia caves, as well as the wonders of Danxia on water. It meets the two main criteria characteristics of World Heritage criteria (vii) and (viii), being the typical representative of China Danxia physiognomy research.
