The Jingpohu UNESCO Global Geopark is located at the Ningan City, the southeast of the Heilongjiang Province, China. It is about 80 km from the Mudanjiang City. In September 2006, it was evaluated by the UNESCO and became a Global Geopark. The park officially inaugurated as Jingpohu Global Geopark in August 30, 2008.

The area of the geopark is 1400 square kilometers. The Geological Relics are Volcanic geological relics, lake and wetland landscapes, and granite geological relics.The relics in the geopark completely show the formation progress of the Jingpohu volcanic group and the lava dammed lake.

The Geopark consists of complete, typical and unique volcanic geological relics. Volcanic relics are well preserved. The lava flows are 65 kilometers long and the total length of lava tunnels is over 20 kilometers. It is a unique natural volcanic relic in China. The Jingpo volcanic group includes 16 volcanic craters. They erupted between 12000 and 5140 years ago.

The Jingpohu Lake is a lava barrier lake, and formed when volcanic lava dammed the Mudanjiang River. It is the world’s largest lava dammed lake. The lake area offers picturesque islands, bays, mountains, hills, virgin forests and historic remains, All of these beautiful sceneries are amazing and make visitors forget to leave.
