The Second Middle School of Pingnan was originally created in 1928 as Wuchen Middle School of Pingnan; in 1959, it gained the name as the Second Middle School of Pingnan and combines both junior and senior middle school education. Located in the north of Shuangxi Village, Shuangxi Town, Pingnan County, it now possesses a campus area of 43,925 square meters and building area of 11,867 square meter with more than 500 students and 98 teachers in school. Shuangxi Town is one of the historical and cultural towns in Fujian and also the old revolutionary base areas in Fujian. During the revolutionary war, Ye Fei, the vice-chairman of the NPC Standing Committee then, had ever led the Eastern Fujian Guerrilla Force to carry on revolutionary struggles in this town. During the Anti-Japanese War, General Ye Fei gathered Eastern Fujian Red Army on the playground of our school to set a north expedition against the Japanese aggression. In 1984, under the great support of Ye Fei and other old revolutionaries as well as Fujian Old Revolutionary Base Area Office, the school established "Pingnan Old Revolutionary Base Junior Middle School" as an enlargement, our school under the pattern of one school with two designations. Vice-chairman Ye Fei inscribed in person the name for this old revolutionary base school. During more than 80 years after its establishment, our school has cultivated a lot of outstanding talents with alumni across the world, including Xue Yiyuan (counselor of former Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Party Central Committee), Xue Mouhong and Wei Dong (former ambassadors), Peter Lu (M.D. in Royal College of Physicians of Britain), and other ones of great eminence. In the last century, our school had won the first place in Fujian junior middle school graduate test for three consecutive years, in Ningde senior middle school entrance examination for eight consecutive years, and made multiple splendid achievements as well as a prominent contribution to the educational business of Pingnan.

"If not overcoming the severe cold, how could plum blossoms have such pleasant fragrance." The plum blossoms become more beautiful under snow and more fragrant under severe cold; with a noble character, perseverance and self-improvement, the plum blossoms stand righteously against the severe cold. This symbolizes the basement for our school's management.
