The Third Middle School of Fu'an City is sited at the foot of Baiyunshan Mountain in Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark and along the bank of the scenic Muyang Stream. Created in 1961, the school after the development and accumulation for more than fifty years has now basically grown into an institution of modern teaching facilities, standard educational assessment, scientific school management and garden-like campus environment. In the school, currently, there are 42 teaching classes, 1,847 students with 533 juniors, 171 faculty members with 119 senior teachers, 3 provincial backbone teachers, 1 Fujian academic leader, 20 Ningde backbone teachers, 12 Fu'an academic leader and 21 Fu'an backbone teachers. The campus occupies an area of 38,825 square meters with 21.02 square meters per student and the building area reaches 26,349 square meters with 14.27 square meters per student. It possesses a standard track-and-field ground with a circumference of 400m and 8 lanes, and 45mu labor base. The green area in the campus is 10,600 square meters with 5.74 square meters per student. There are 52 ordinary classrooms (all equipped with the interactive electronic whiteboard) in a total area of 3,546 square meters; 16 teacher's offices in an area of 680 square meters; 1 geography classroom in an area of 96 square meters; one psychological counseling room one medical room, and one park for biology teaching in an area of 800 square meters fit for the school size and in compliance with the basic requirements of Fujian Provincial Standards for Educational Technologies and Equipment. Its classrooms, functional laboratories, instruments, equipment, and apparatus all meet the provincial grade I standards. Its library occupies an area of 395 square meters, possesses the building area of 1,350 square meters, collects 84,825 books and more than 25,000 electronic books. The construction of the new campus occupying an area of 136mu for the Third Middle School of Fu'an City is under gradual advancement. The land acquisition, surface clearing work, the initial land leveling within the enclosure, the building of simple enclosure, the draft design of the site plan and the financial audit for the school enclosure and gate have been completed; currently, the preparatory work for the traffic impact assessment compiling and geological survey is under way.

The school takes initiatives in the implementation of educational policies to cultivate the scientific literacy of citizens, carry out scientific education and formulate the Comprehensive Practical Curriculum Scheme of the Third Middle School of Fu'an City. It also carries out actively the investigative study. Under the guidance of experts and teachers, students have designed independently more than one hundred research projects. After practice, the students have gained the scientific attitudes and spirits for respecting facts, independent thinking and braving difficulties and get trained in their scientific literacy and innovative ability. The scientific and technological innovations of students have won multiple awards. Scientific education has become another major characteristic of our school. Innumerable great achievements have been gained in scientific education. For recent years, our school has won titles in the Youth Science and Technology Innovation Contests for 10 consecutive sessions and been awarded 8 gold medals and five silver medals, a leading performance in all middle schools of Ningde. Our school has successively won the Outstanding Organization Award for the 25^th Fujian Youth Science and Technology Innovation Contest, the Outstanding Organization Award and Gold Award for the 5^th Fujian Lu Jiaxi Youth Science and Technology Innovation Contest, Special Awards of Fujian Quanzhou Xianluan Welfare Foundation of 29^th Fujian Youth Science and Technology Innovation Contest, and Advanced Collective of "Youth Science and Technology" of Ningde. In 2016, the science and technology innovative project Turning Bad into Good harvested the second prize of science and technology educational scheme under the list of outstanding science and technology program of the 31^th National Youth Science and Technology Innovation Contest, a historical breakthrough; Sight Rehabilitating Glasses System for Blind People was honored the Outstanding Innovation Award under the list of outstanding science and technology program of the 31^th National Youth Science and Technology Innovation Contest; teacher Xu An was awarded as Fujian Top Ten Instructor in Science and Technology. Each year, our school will participate actively in model airplane activities. In 2016, the modeling club of our school participated in Fujian Youth Marine Modeling Championship and won the group second prize in the China Coastguard Ship Model category and the third prize in "Xue Long" Scientific Research Ship Modeling category; it has also participated in 2017 Fujian Youth Marine Modeling Championship and Fujian Finals of the National Youth "I Love the Coast and Sea of the Motherland", and won the group third prize in the middle school category; Scientific research and self-development have evolved in the characteristics of investigative study curriculums conducted by teachers and students at our school.
