The First Middle School of Fuding City, Fujian Province, (FMSFC for short) is located at the foot of Fuquan Mountain and along the bank of Longshan Stream in Tongcheng sub-district. Enclosed by mountains and rivers and endowed with the fine spirits of the universe, it possesses pleasant sceneries. It derives from the "Private Beiling Junior Middle School" created in the autumn of 1938. In the winter of 1940, its name was changed into "Fuding Junior Middle School". In July 1957, due to its instituting of the senior middle school department, it was named as "Fuding Middle School". Next year, it was renamed as "The First Middle School of Fuding City". At the beginning of 1960s, it was included in the list for regional key middle schools; in 1981, it was selected as a key middle school at both provincial and prefectural levels; in 2001, it was rated as a "Grade I School" of Fujian.

For more than 70 years since its establishment, the school has overcome various difficulties, like poor school running conditions and inadequate capital, and persisted in the overall implementation of the education policies made by the Communist Party of China. Now, with a continuously expanding school size and an excellent school spirit, as well as favorable teaching and learning styles, its educational and teaching qualities are increasing gradually. FMSFC possesses the remarkable school scale and teaching staff. Its main campus occupies an area of 83mu with above 26,828 square meters building area. Now it has 44 teaching classes, including the science and technology experimental class instituted around 2014 senior middle school entrance examination. In its senior middle school department, there are more than 2,000 students as well as 147 full time teachers, including 67 senior teachers, 79 level-one teachers, 2 national backbone teachers and 12 provincial backbone teachers. Its teaching staff, with senior and intermediate teachers as the backbone, features a reasonable structure and high quality.

With persistence in the schooling philosophy of "prioritizing the moral education, emphasizing the teaching, centering on educating and pursing excellence", FMSFC has advanced comprehensively the quality-oriented education and is devoted to carrying out "investigative study" for all students. The school has initiatively participated in various teaching and scientific research activities. In recent three years, it has involved successively in three national research projects and two provincial research projects organized by scientific research departments, such as National Institute of Education Sciences of the Ministry of Education, National Center for Educational Technology and The Chinese Society of Education. Two of these projects have been successfully completed. Our school was awarded the title of "National Advanced Collective in the Scientific Research of Education Information". In our school, 116 theses for subject study have been published and released in CN journals and provincial academic conferences, and multiple teachers have won titles in courseware design contests at both national and provincial levels. It also has outstanding teaching achievements. More than 2,000 students have successively won awards in various discipline competitions at national and regional levels; above 80 teachers have won titles in national and provincial assessment activities of educational and teaching theses; above 70 teachers have won titles in the regional level; in 2003, its performance in senior middle school graduate test ranked first in Ningde City and the grades of 99.58% students surpassed the line set for the college entrance examination; in 2004, after the college entrance examination, 451 students were qualified for undergraduate study, namely, 80.5% above undergraduate line, moreover, this school was the only one in Ningde that 100% students got grades above the lines set in arts and sciences by all schools above the level of junior college. In 2005, its performance in college entrance examination achieved a new level, with 463 students above undergraduate line, namely a rate of 90.25%, and 100% students above lines of junior colleges. It also has made extraordinary achievements in art education, such as Fisherman in Eastern Fujina and Fisherman's Drum for Celebration respectively won the first prize in the Fujian Art Festival and the third prize in the National Folk Arts Contest for Middle and Primary School Students.
