Shilin Global Geopark, located at Shilin Yi Autonomous County, Kunming City, Yunnan Province of China, covers an area of 365.7 square kilometers and is regarded as the world reference site of pinnacle karst. At southwest of the Yangtze Platform, Shilin preserves different forms and “generations ”of pinnacle karst evolved over the past 250 million years. It is the only area in the world that records the earth history by pinnacle the goeheritage of karst (Stone Forest). Shilin is also designated as a World Heritage Site, IUGS Geological Site and the first batch of AAAAA National Tourist Attraction.

Sani people, a branch of the Yi ethnic minority, created splendid and unique culture,

such as the long narrative poem Ashima, Sani embroidery, Dasanxian (three-string guitar)Dance, the Torch Festival and Mizhi (dense forests) Festival. The epic Ashima  was adapted into China's first color full screen stereo musical film and gained great popularity at home and abroad.
